New look board at The London Clinic

Additional roles introduced to board

The UK’s largest independent and non-profit hospital, The London Clinic, has announced significant changes to its board of directors.

Following the appointment of new chief executive Paul Holdom in autumn last year, the hospital has now brought on board a number of new faces, as well as introducing several new roles.

The role of medical director has been officially introduced to the board for the first time, which was taken up by consultant urological surgeon Simon St Clair Carter earlier this year, who will focus on the requirements and relationship management of the hospital’s consultants.

Meanwhile Nuala Close has been taken on as director of nursing care, and Debbie Colebourn joins as director of marketing after 12 years at national hospital group Spire Healthcare.

In another newly-created role, Marina Griffin joins The London Clinic as director of operations in May.

Griffin has over 25 years’ experience in customer service, sales and operations in the hospitality, media and internet retail sectors, and was previously the head of operations for BskyB in its new media division.

The new directors will work alongside existing board members Gillian Irvine, director of HR & training, Mike Roberts, director of IT, and Sanjay Shah, chief financial officer.

The Capital Planning Director, Tony Beecroft, will now take overall responsibility for capital planning and estate services, bringing projects, maintenance and property services including fire and security under one umbrella. He has been at The London Clinic for 32 years and was instrumental in the development and construction of the its purpose-built £90m cancer centre.

Also this year, Professor Robin Williamson has taken over from Michael Abrahams as chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Williamson said: “It’s certainly true to say that there’s been some ‘changes at the top’ over the past few months and I am convinced that our new board of directors will ensure The London Clinic continues to deliver an exceptional service to our patients.”
