High profile departure from Simplyhealth following Groupama deal

Alistair Sclare to leave by mutual consent

Alistair Sclare is to leave Simplyhealth following the organisation’s acquisition of private medical insurance (PMI) provider Groupama Healthcare.

A spokesman for Simplyhealth told Health Insurance that after discussions between the organisation and Sclare (pictured), both parties “mutually decided it is the right time for him to leave Simplyhealth”.

Sclare was healthcare director at Groupama Healthcare, which he joined in 2005, when Simplyhealth first announced its plans to buy the business in August 2011. Prior to joining Groupama, he worked at Sun Alliance in the 1990s. His career in insurance began with Legal & General in the 1980s.

The acquisition of Groupama’s UK health insurance business by Simplyhealth completed at the end of last month after receiving approval from the High Court. The deal made Simplyhealth the UK’s fifth largest PMI provider.

Groupama Healthcare’s Santé product has been named ‘Santé by Simplyhealth’ and remains available for quotations and renewals. Simplyhealth has transferred EasyAdmin to its website to enable intermediaries to amend details of policies that were formerly with Groupama Healthcare.

The Simplyhealth spokesman said: “Alistair was healthcare director at Groupama Healthcare and has been a key part of the business for a number of years. He has made an invaluable contribution and we thank him and wish him well in the future.”
