Russell Hardy has been named as the new chairman of Nuffield Health, the independent sector hospital group and gym provider.
Hardy, who will succeed Mike Smith at Nuffield’s forthcoming annual general meeting in June, was appointed chairman of the trustees of the Nuffield Health Pension and Life Assurance Scheme in December 2011 and is a member of the Audit Committee.
His previous roles include director of fresh foods for Safeway, chairman and CEO of Dollond & Aitchinson and CEO of Blacks Leisure Group. His current roles include chairman of the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Foundation Trust Hospital, chairman of Hunters Moor Neuro Rehabilitation Limited and chairman of the Multiple Sclerosis Trust. He is also a trustee of the UK Acquired Brain Injury Forum.
Smith will step down at the AGM following nearly three years in his current role and having served his full nine-year term as a member of Nuffield Health’s Board of Governors.
