Bupa group finance director Tom Singer is to leave the health and care company to join InterContinental Hotels Group as chief financial officer in September of this year.
Singer joined Bupa as group finance director in 2008, succeeding Ray King who was then appointed chief executive. Earlier this month Bupa announced that King himself is to retire in 2012.
Prior to joining Bupa, Singer held positions at William Hill, Moss Bros, McKinsey & Company and PwC.
A spokesman for Bupa said that Neil Taylor, Bupa Care Services’ finance and development director, will serve as acting group finance director until a permanent successor is appointed.
Bupa chairman Lord Leitch said: “The Board would like to thank Tom for his strong contribution during his time at Bupa. We have enjoyed working with him and we wish him the best of luck in his new role."
King’s successor as chief executive has not yet been announced.
