Senior appointments - mid-month update

ROODLANE COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR

Elliott Hurst has been appointed as the first commercial director of Roodlane Medical, the provider of occupational health, private GP and health screening services.

Hurst was previously a senior healthcare consultant with Towers Watson's healthcare and risk team, responsible for advising and consulting with a number of larger private sector employers in relation to their health benefit and risk management programmes.

Prior to joining Towers Watson in 2002, he spent four years with Aon Consulting in a senior healthcare advisory role.

In his new role, Hurst will be responsible for managing and developing relationships with the company's existing clients, as well as responding to new business opportunities, managing third party relationships and developing new market propositions with the Roodlane team. He will report to Roodlane chief executive Dr Gill MacLeod.

CLEAR INSURANCE PMI APPOINTMENT

Clear Insurance Management Ltd, the insurance broker, has appointed Michael Cooke to lead its new, dedicated healthcare arm, providing advice on private medical insurance and employee benefits to small businesses through to large corporate clients.

Prior to joining Clear, Cooke was commercial director at The Alpha Healthcare Consultancy and before that he was corporate manager and principal consultant at Towry Law Healthcare. He also spent more than 20 years with Norwich Union, prior to its rebranding as Aviva, including roles as head of research and head of marketing for Norwich Union Healthcare.

SWORD INTECH DIRECTOR

Sword Insurance, the provider of software and services to the global insurance and reinsurance industries, has appointed Phil Race as director of its Sword Intech division.

Race succeeds Intech executive Eugene Brien, who is stepping down after many years at the organisation. Race joins the company with over 20 years of experience managing and growing software businesses serving the insurance and financial industries, including the last six with SSP.

APRIL INSURETY SALES DIRECTOR

APRIL Insurety, the provider of lifestyle protection plans, has appointed Simon Blundell as national sales director. Blundell, who has over 24 years' experience in the industry, will lead APRIL Insurety's England and Wales sales team.

BUPA HEALTH AND WELLBEING UK HR DIRECTOR

Bupa's UK health and wellbeing business has appointed Craig McCoy as its new human resources director.

McCoy joins Bupa with over 20 years of human resources experience across a wide variety of industries. He has worked for a number of blue chip companies in the media technology, telecommunications and professional services sectors.

Prior to joining Bupa, he was group HR director at BSkyB and a HR director at BT. His appointment follows the appointment of Denise Collis as Bupa's group HR director in March 2010.

GROUPAMA COUNTER-FRAUD MANAGER

Groupama Insurances has appointed Andy Pagett as counter-fraud manager. Pagett joins Groupama from Fortis and reports to head of technical claims, Steve Caffrey.

An insurance professional with over 28 years' experience, Pagett will be responsible for all aspects of Groupama's counter-fraud activities.

THE INSURANCE PARTNERSHIP PMI APPOINTMENT

Independent insurance broker The Insurance Partnership has appointed Simon Sharp as specialist account executive on its health insurance team.

Sharp has 15 years' experience in the insurance industry working across the north of England and his new role at the Hull-based business involves organising private healthcare for the commercial sector.
