Adviser launches critical illness comparison site for fellow intermediaries

New service aims to improve understanding of complexities of CI

A financial adviser has developed a website designed to help fellow intermediaries and their clients understand the intricacies of critical illness (CI) insurance.

Hemel Hempstead-based IFA Alan Lakey said the new site - - has been built to raise consumers' awareness and understanding of the benefits of CI policies and dispel some common misconceptions around the product.

However, while the new site should help consumers to understand CI more clearly, Lakey stressed that it is important that they make any purchasing decision with the support of a financial adviser.

For a fee, advisers can subscribe to the service which is based an indexing system that enables a structured comparison of policies.

Lakey, one of the highest profile advisers in the protection market, said that the new service provides a "comprehensive set of interactive tools at their fingertips".

The site provides an overview of the issues advisers should consider and a guide which can be downloaded.

The new site is sponsored by Ageas Protect and Friends Life, although it is independent and provides an analysis of providers right across the market.

The launch of comes in the same week as another specialist intermediary, Drewberry Insurance, launches a site which aims to help consumers to understand the complexities of income protection cover.
